Use Hidden Form Fields to Record Where Each Lead Came From
Add a hidden field to your form, give it a query key, and GoHighLevel saves the campaign name from the link onto the contact record without the lead typing anything.
A Hidden field is a form element visitors never see. It still holds a value, and when the page URL carries a matching query parameter, the form fills the field in and saves it with the submission. A link ending in ?campaign=spring-tuneup can put "spring-tuneup" on the contact record without the lead typing a thing.
This matters because most owners can't say which flyer, ad or email produced a lead. Put a different value in each link and the answer sits on the contact. You can then filter a Smart List by that field, start a workflow from it, or send a different follow-up for each campaign.
Two details make it work. First, map the hidden field to a custom field so the value lands on the contact instead of staying buried in the submission. Second, the parameter name in your link must match the field's query key exactly, including spelling and case. Submit a test through a tagged link, then open the contact and check. A link without the parameter leaves the field blank, so tag every link you share.
How to use it
- Go to Sites > Forms > Builder and open your form
- Add a Hidden Field element to the form
- Set its query key, such as campaign, and map it to a custom field
- Add ?campaign=your-value to the end of the form link you share
- Submit a test through that link and check the contact record
