When a contact replies to one of your texts with a standard opt-out keyword such as STOP, GoHighLevel recognizes it and sets that contact to Do Not Disturb for SMS. You do not build this. The platform handles it. What most accounts never do is watch it happen once.

That matters because texting people who said stop leads to carrier complaints, filtered messages and unhappy customers. A test shows you the real behavior on your own number instead of assuming it works. Run it after you change numbers, finish A2P registration or load a snapshot into a new account.

Use a test contact with your own mobile number, not a real customer. Send a text from Conversations, reply STOP from your phone, then open the contact record and check the DND setting for SMS. The opt-out applies to the SMS channel, so email and calls on that contact stay as they were.

One detail: when you finish, turn DND off on the test contact so you can repeat the test later. Once SMS DND is on, GoHighLevel blocks texts to that contact, including texts from workflow actions.

How to use it

  1. Contacts > Add Contact, using your own mobile number
  2. Conversations > open the test contact and send it a text
  3. Reply STOP from your phone to that text
  4. Contacts > open the test contact and check the SMS DND setting
  5. Turn SMS DND off again so you can repeat the test

Who it helps

Any service business or agency that texts leads, especially accounts that just got a new number, A2P approval or a snapshot.
