Use the Goal Event Action to Stop Follow-Up After a Lead Books

The Goal Event action lets a follow-up sequence skip ahead or end the moment a lead books or replies, so nobody gets a nudge text after they already said yes.

Goal Event Action Stops Follow-Up After Lead Books

Add a Goal Event action to your follow-up workflow so GoHighLevel stops texting leads the moment they book or reply.

Workflow trick | | 1 min read | By Yaakov (Koby) Oranski, Certified GoHighLevel Admin

The Goal Event action tells a workflow what success looks like. You add it to a sequence, pick the event you are waiting for, such as a customer reply or an appointment status change, and choose what happens when a contact meets it: skip ahead to the goal or end the workflow.

This matters most in follow-up sequences. Without a goal, a lead who books on day one can still get your day three check-in text and your day five call task. That looks careless, and it gives people a reason to opt out. With a goal event, the workflow watches for the result you wanted and stops pushing once the contact delivers it.

Two details make it work. First, place the Goal Event after the steps you want to be skippable. It acts on contacts who are in the workflow above it when the event happens. Second, test it with a dummy contact: enroll them, complete the goal, and open the workflow's Enrollment History to confirm the remaining steps were skipped. A goal event only affects the workflow it sits in. It does not pull the contact out of any other workflow, so check your other sequences for overlap.

How to use it

  1. Go to Automation > Workflows and open your follow-up workflow
  2. Add a Goal Event action after the steps you want to be skippable
  3. Choose the event you are waiting for, such as a customer reply or appointment status
  4. Set what happens when the goal is met: skip ahead or end the workflow
  5. Enroll a test contact, meet the goal, and check Enrollment History

Who it helps

Home service companies, clinics and agency operators who run multi-step text and call follow-up for new leads.

Related: A follow-up sequence that stops at the right moment is part of answering new leads fast without annoying them.
