Why Yotomations

AI where it pays, not everywhere: how we decide what an agent should do

Owners have heard AI answering services that were terrible, and some do not want a doctor hearing from a robot. We agree with both instincts. AI earns its place one job at a time, with a human handoff on every one.

The jobs AI is good at

Answering after hours so the caller does not dial the next company. Qualifying an inbound lead with three questions and booking the estimate. Replying to a Yelp or web lead in the first minute with price range, availability and one question. Reactivating an old database with a conversation that hands off the moment someone replies. These are narrow, high-volume, time-sensitive tasks where a human is usually unavailable, and they are where the return is.

The jobs it should not do

Clinical conversations. Anything that needs judgment about a person's situation. Outbound calls without documented consent. Replacing the receptionist during the hours the receptionist is there. When an owner asks for AI in one of these places we say no on the first call and explain why.

How every agent is built

A specific job with a written script for the first exchange. Disclosure that the caller is speaking with an automated assistant. Handoff triggers: a request for a human, a keyword, a confidence threshold, a business-hours rule. Consent and do-not-call handling that follows TCPA and state rules. And a staged rollout: shadow mode, after-hours only, overflow, then full, with rollback criteria at each step. The what to automate first article and the AI agents service go deeper. We also test our thinking against other practitioners in the TrueHorizon AI cohort.

Questions we hear about this

Will an AI agent replace my front desk?

Not during the hours your front desk is working. Agents earn their place after hours, on overflow and on first-minute replies, where a person is usually unavailable.

What happens when the AI cannot handle a call?

It hands off on defined triggers: a request for a human, a keyword, a confidence threshold or a business-hours rule. The handoff is a warm transfer or a callback, depending on the hour.

Is outbound AI calling legal?

Outbound calls and texts are regulated under TCPA and state rules, and consent and disclosure are required. We design them in and flag anything that needs a lawyer. This is practical guidance, not legal advice.
