GoHighLevel vs Zenoti for Med Spas: Which One Should Run Marketing and Booking?
Zenoti runs the spa floor, GoHighLevel runs follow-up and rebooking. Here is when to keep both with a sync, and when a full switch is the better call.
Learn moreYour customers already know your number and you cannot change it. Here are the three ways to keep it with GoHighLevel today, and what to retire if HighLevel ships a native option.
Short answer: Yes, you can keep your existing number, but GoHighLevel has no setting that simply attaches a number another carrier still controls. Today you have three routes: port the number into LC Phone, connect a Twilio account that already hosts it, or leave it where it is and forward unanswered calls to a GoHighLevel number. Port when you can afford to lose the old carrier's service on that line. Forward when you cannot, which is the case for most owners' cell phones.
A phone number is controlled by a carrier. GoHighLevel can send and receive on numbers that HighLevel or a connected provider controls, and nothing else. So "use my existing number" always means one of two things: control of the number moves, or the number stays put and calls are routed away from it.
That is why a thread this week on r/gohighlevel about keeping a client's number for missed call text back ran into the same wall. Porting needs personal details that are hard to collect from a busy owner, and forwarding depends on what the client's carrier allows. Both worries are fair, and both have a workable answer.
| Route | What changes | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Port into LC Phone | Number moves to HighLevel. Old carrier stops serving it. | A dedicated business line or landline you want fully in GoHighLevel | Mismatched account details, early cancellation, and a dead personal cell |
| Connect Twilio | Number stays at Twilio. GoHighLevel uses your Twilio account. | Numbers already hosted at Twilio | If the number is not at Twilio yet, you are porting twice |
| Forward to a GoHighLevel number | Old number stays. Unanswered calls go to a new number. | Owner cells, shared lines, or numbers you cannot lose | Replies come from a different number, and your carrier must allow forwarding |
Most failed ports are paperwork failures. The new provider has to match what you submit against the old carrier's record, so the name, service address, account number and PIN must be exactly what the old carrier has on file, not what the owner thinks it is.
Plan on days, not hours. Carriers set the schedule and any estimate they give is an estimate. If the number is a personal mobile, remember that porting moves the line itself, so that phone goes dead on that number. For a roofer or a duct cleaner who answers on the same cell all day, that is a deal breaker.
For a cell or any number you cannot move, buy or assign a GoHighLevel number and set conditional call forwarding on the old line. Conditional means the call rings the owner first and forwards only when it goes unanswered or is busy. You set this with the old carrier or VoIP provider, not in GoHighLevel, and some carriers charge for it or restrict it.
When the forwarded call lands on the GoHighLevel number and nobody picks up, the missed call text back fires. We cover the copy and the mistakes in missed call text back in GoHighLevel. The catch is that the text comes from the GoHighLevel number, not the number the customer dialed. Start the message with the business name so it does not look like spam, and expect some customers to reply to the new number from then on. If you see replies or reminders leaving from a number you did not expect, our post on GoHighLevel sending from the wrong number walks through the causes.
Test it with three calls before go-live: answered, unanswered, and busy. Check what caller ID shows on the owner's phone for a forwarded call, because that depends on the carrier and you want to know before a customer does.
US carriers expect business texts on 10-digit numbers to be registered through A2P 10DLC, which runs through The Campaign Registry. A ported number does not skip that step, and neither does the new number you forward to. If registration is not approved or the number is not on the campaign, texts get filtered or blocked, which looks like "the automation is broken" when it is not. Our guide to A2P 10DLC registration and approval covers the order to do it in. This is practical guidance and not legal advice.
HighLevel's public ideas board has a request called Use Existing Number. As of 2026-10-07 it shows 1,272 votes, 197 comments and a status of under review. Under review is HighLevel's label for it, not a promise, and we are not predicting a release or what it would cover.
If something ships, check three things before you change anything: which carriers and line types it supports, whether it handles voice, texting or both, and how it treats A2P registration. Then retire only what it replaces. A forwarding bridge on a number the new feature supports can go. Your missed call workflow, your tags, your pipeline stage rules and your A2P campaign stay, because they are about what happens after the call, not about who owns the number.
We would ask who answers the number today and on what device. If it is a dedicated line, we would plan a port with the paperwork checked before the request is filed. If it is the owner's cell, we would set up conditional forwarding to a GoHighLevel number, build the missed call text and the pipeline stage behind it, and register the number for A2P in parallel. That kind of build is part of our GoHighLevel automation work, and for contractors it usually sits inside the broader setup on our home services page. We scope it at a fixed price with no hourly billing, and you can book a free 30-minute call at meet.yotomations.com to talk through your number.
Yes, by porting it into LC Phone, by connecting a Twilio account that already hosts the number, or by forwarding calls from it to a GoHighLevel number. There is no setting that simply attaches a number still controlled by another carrier. Which route is right depends on whether you can lose the old carrier's service on that line.
Plan on days, not hours, and treat any carrier estimate as an estimate. Delays usually come from a mismatch between the name, address, account number or PIN you submit and what the old carrier has on file. Keep the old service active until the port completes.
Callers still dial your original number. If the call goes unanswered and forwards into GoHighLevel, the missed call text back comes from the GoHighLevel number, so put your business name in the first line of the text. What caller ID shows on your own phone for forwarded calls depends on your carrier, so test it.
If you send texts from it, yes. US carriers expect business texting on 10-digit numbers to be registered through A2P 10DLC, and the number has to be tied to your approved campaign. This is practical guidance and not legal advice.
You can port it, but the line's service moves with it, so your personal phone stops working on that number. Most owners are better off keeping the cell and forwarding unanswered calls to a GoHighLevel number instead.
